Special issue : Handfasting
Other Handfasting Books
There seems to have been a recent trend in publishing for books about handfasting. Reviews of three of these books appear in this issue. Not received for review at time of publication were Magickal Weddings
by Canadian Joy Ferguson, published in 2001 by ECW press, and Handfasting and Pagan Weddings by Rev. Robin B May, published in 2002 by Pagans Press. Even non-pagans are picking up on handfastings. Apparently The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions, published by Broadway Books (Random House), contains some info on handfastings and Wiccan ceremonies within its pages, as does Joining Hands and Hearts, reviewed in this issue.
If you're looking to incorporate some Medieval themes into a celebration, you might want to take a look at Medieval Celebrations: How to Plan for Holidays, Weddings, and Reenactments by Daniel Diehl and Mark Donnelly, published in 2004 by Fitzhenry & Whiteside.
(Excerpted from Pagan Publishing News, Midsummer 2004, by Raven)
Other new books we've heard about:
A Romantic Guide To Handfasting: Rituals, Recipes & Lore by Anna Franklin
Published in January 2005 by Llewellyn
